Fall Men’s Ministry Plan

Our church has a heavy emphasis on building into the men because as the man goes, so goes the family, church, and society. This fall we will be kicking our men’s discipleship process into gear with the following three opportunities.

STEP ONE: For men who have not gone through Men’s Fraternity.

THE QUEST FOR AUTHENTIC MANHOOD

WHEN: Wednesday mornings at 6am beginning September 16th. We will run 13 weeks in the fall and then pick back up for 11 weeks beginning next January.

WHERE: Starbucks at the corner of Shelbyville/Hurstbourne

WHAT: The Quest for Authentic Manhood is the foundational level or ground floor of manhood. This 24-session study focuses on a man’s core identity and gives an overview of basic manhood issues. It will help men deal with various identity issues by looking back at past wounds and other things that may have distorted their idea of biblical masculinity. Throughout the course of the study, men will learn how to clearly define manhood and will finally be able to give a succinct and passionate answer to the questions, “What is a man?” and “What am I living to be?” This captivating journey helps men: resolve wounds from their past, embrace a biblical definition of manhood, and develop their own personal manhood plan.

STEP TWO: For men who have gone through the Quest for Authentic Manhood.

DISCIPLESHIP PODS with Rich or myself.

WHEN: beginning the week of September 13th, each group will decide on a time and meet weekly for a year, sometimes more depending on material coverage.

WHERE: the group will decide

WHAT: discipleship pods are small groups of men who meet with Rich or myself to focus in on three areas: Heat (our spirituality), Light (our knowledge of the Christian faith), and Leadership. These groups have a heavy emphasis on the basics of the Christian faith and doctrinal study, fostering disciplines, and addressing leadership issues (personally, at home, at work, in church, etc). ONLY MEN WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH THE QUEST FOR AUTHENTIC MANHOOD ARE ELIGIBLE FOR DPODS.

STEP THREE: For men who have finished or are in a discipleship pod.

WINNNG AT WORK AND HOME and SERMON DISCUSSIONS

WHEN: Wednesday mornings at 6am beginning September 16th. We will combine the 16 week DVDs with the current format of sermon discussion.

WHERE: Starbucks at the corner of Shelbyville/Hurstbourne

WHAT: Winning at Work and Home, a 16-session study, focuses on the two areas that are central to a man’s life: career and family. It will begin to build the walls of manhood through study dealing with a man’s chief responsibilities. It explores how a man can enjoy and engage his work and how he can relate to a woman in a whole new way.

AQ’s (anticipated questions)

What if I have been through men’s fraternity at a different church?

-Great, there is no need for you to go through it again.

Can I go through this again if I have already been through it?

-Sure, the more the merrier. But don’t miss out on a DPOD.

What if I can’t make the Wednesday morning time slot?

-Why can’t you? If it is for a lamo reason like sleeping in, then tough cookies. If it is because of work stuff, then help me put together a group that meets at a different time.

I was participating in the sermon discussions and want to continue, can I do so?

-Sure, if you have gone through Men’s Fraternity One and have completed, are in, or signed up for a DPOD in the fall.

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE FOLLOWING AT CHURCH OR BY EMAILING ME (tpussel@fellowshiplouisville.com) Also, please keep October 16 and 17th open for the annual men’s camping retreat. If you have any questions about this process call or email.
